Search Engine Optimising (SEO) is a speciality technique provided by many web designers.
No SEO Company can guarantee a number one ranking on any one search engine and there are many companies claiming to get you on page one. This is the biggest catch in the industry. If there was twenty companies all wanting to be on page one for the same keywords then only ten will get listed and there's no guarantee they can do it. The fact is they cannot. Don't be caught in this trap. What they do is ask you for ALL your keywords then find out the least searched keyword and focus on that and tell you “you're on page one.”
You say that you cannot find your listing on page one, then they spring it on you that they guaranteed page one on a least one keyword. All sites have master keywords, usually 5-10 master keywords for the major products or services you are providing, then secondary and third level keywords that can focus on alternate words or spellings even common spelling mistakes. They all have an effect but who wants to focus on the market for people who mistype words? With sugestive input now becomming popular and most search engines noticing the mistake by saying "did you mean......?" So optimising for spelling mistakes is generally a mistake. Alternate spellings such as Search Engine Optimization as opposed to Search Engine Optimisation can be regional just as the spelling for centre & center or colour and color. So optimising for alternate spellings depends on your target market.
